No Luck Fishing Report

5 Rating based on 2 Reviews

Hit the same spot as a couple of weeks ago. Was on the water at 730am. Water was higher and moving quicker from the rain fall. Wind was steady to gusty at times.

Sun was pounding right side bank. I worked the sunny stretch with a crankbait and spinnerbait thru the wood and brush. No love.

Marked fish on the break and worked a point and the breakline with a smaller husky jerk without any takers. Dragged around some soft plastic but to gunky from the turnover.

Changed up colors as I could not see the lures very well in the water. Still nothing doing.

Picked up the jig and worked all the promising wood but nada. Went to a heavier jig to offset the moving water. Still nothing.

Doubled back to the sunny bank and dragged the jig around and threw everything. But alas nothing.

Poked around the spillway and ladder but current was tough with the winds so pulled out a little early off water at 10am.

Loaded up and headed into the office.

  • I get out of work at 3:30, and B-line it to the pond for an hour/hour and a half. Pickerel have been going nuts for me. Catching 3-5 a day since Sunday. Big ones too 18-22inches.
I'm using Pumpkin rubber worms setup wacky style with the O-ring in the middle. Seem to be at around 5/6 feet of water 15/20 feet from shore consistently. What an angry fish to catch.

  • 30 80 unbelievable man. I went out yesterday, 10am to 11:30, west river and not even a bite. seen schools of little fish but that's it. Either I suc, or the ponds and rivers here suc.or both. lol I did see 4 kid fishing poles 2 buckets and a net on shore. Someone fishing to eat ? Killing the supply is what I think.

  • Thanks for the info. All over, i gotta get out again

  • Slabosourous- they was all over the lake. Suspend column. (Bass are in 2-4 feet under surface in any depth up to 12-15feet.) since this pond maxed at 12-15feet. Unsure exactly depth.

  • I counted my fish. But my buddy doesn't. So, he caught more fish than I am but my total fish is 37 for the day. He probably has between 50-60 fish. So, I put up low estimate at 80 fish. (If it was only bass - it will be around 40-50) just remember one thing, if you fish in tournament, your mindset will focus on bigger bass and quality fish. Not quantity fish.

  • Not that I can't count to 80 but I've fished my whole life with some if the best tournament anglers in ma and have never seen anyone count every fish to 30 , never mind 80 . Usually when the fishing us that good anyone would lose count , u sure it was 80 , or maybe it was 79 or 81 . And Pickeral and perch don't count so they shouldn't be added to the number if fish . I'm not hating just saying I've never seen anyone count there fish like that .

  • Mark, what kind of pond? Shallow? deep? Rocky? Nice job getting them

  • Caught 80 fish today with my buddy. I got 5lbs bass on second hour of fishing. Then rest of them are bass, pickerels, perch, and Brookie! All bites was on jerkbait and senko.

  • good luck! im going out this afternoon

  • Sorry to keep this trip tread going but you guys got me fired up to fish! Im going to try to get out tomorrow! Thanks for all the encouragement and tips!
